Promoting earth sciences

The ‘Alpine House' Foundation is intended to promote, advance, and popularize the earth sciences.

The sciences prioritized are glaciology, geology and geomorphology, as well as the evaluation of risks within the natural Alpine environment. The Foundation wishes to make the general public more aware of mountain environments, but also more aware of the problem of sustainable development which they are confronted by.

The Foundation also has as objectives the development of a network of scientists, the creation of a centre for knowledge-sharing, and the organization of thematic tourist trips.

In order to reach these goals, between now and 2010 the Foundation will set up a project in Evolène called "Le Cairn".
