A preferred site

The ‘Le Cairn' project will be built at Evolène (Valais), in the Val d'Hérens area. This site has been studied for years by Swiss and English universities.

The geological, glaciological and geomorphologic diversity of the Val d'Hérens makes it a preferred site for the ‘Alpine House' Foundation's activities. The diversity and the quality of the Alpine landscape are accompanied by ancestral traditions that are not only authentic but thriving and dynamic.

« La Fauchère » In more precise terms, the Centre for glaciology and geology will be built in a place known as “La Fauchère“, a tiny hamlet with five houses, about 100 metres south of Evolène. One of the houses is the Maison de Ribaupierre, a historical house that is an integral part of Le Cairn.
