A museum for teaching and for fun
In order to interest a large public in the alpine environment, the Centre for glaciology and geology will host a permanent exhibition.
The exhibition shall be instructive, entertaining, and dynamic all at once. It will attract adults as well as children, and experienced researchers as well as neophytes. Walking through the exhibition space, visitors will step back two billion years in time. But the exhibition shall also raise awareness of the challenges involved in protecting the alpine environment over the next two centuries. Multimedia tools will guide visitors through the exhibition.
A full-scale display of nature
Whilst discovering the exhibition, the innovative architectural project of Le Cairn will also enable the public to appreciate the magnificence of the surrounding landscape through large windows. These bay windows will also perfectly illustrate the content of the exhibition. The village of Evolène for instance will be visible from the part of the exhibition which describes the earliest alpine inhabitants and how they began to claim the land.
