The Alpine House Foundation
Founded in 2001, "La Maison des Alpes" (The Alpine House) is a non-profit foundation based in Evolène, in the Valais region. Its primary purpose is the promotion and presentation of the natural and cultural heritage of the Alpine region and the relationship of this heritage to people's lives there.
The ‘Cairn' Project
To reach this objective, between now and 2010 the Foundation will set up a project in Evolène called "Le Cairn". In particular, this project will involve building a centre for glaciology and geology (‘Le Cairn' building).
The "Alpine House" Foundation is made up of a foundation board that may include 15-25 members. 5-7 members make up the Steering Committee that is responsible for implementing decisions made by the foundation board. The Steering Committee oversees five commissions, each directed by an Executive Bureau.
